Spring Egg Hunt
Robert Aguirre, Director of Recreation and Community Services welcomed the residents to enjoy our Annual Spring Egg Hunt that was held on March 30th at Barnes Park in Monterey Park.
He introduced Mayor Jose Sanchez to the residents.
Mayor Sanchez thanked the residents for attending this event sponsored by our city. He thanked Robert Aguirre and his staff for making this event possible. He said that this is a great day. It is his daughter’s birthday. He wished everyone a Happy Egg Hunt! Happy Easter!
Councilmember Yvonne Yiu introduced herself and wished everyone a Happy Egg Hunt in Chinese!
Councilmember Henry Lo joined the party as the crowd grew larger by the minute.
I watched as the employees and volunteers scattered candy filled eggs and toy filled eggs in the yard in the 0 to3 years old group.
When the whistle sounded the little children joined by one adult began to pick up their eggs.
This set up was much safer as each age group had a chance to hunt for their eggs.
The next group of children were 4 to 7 years old and the last group was 8 to 12 years old.
They all enjoyed picking up 8,000 candy filled eggs and 500 toy filled eggs.
The Easter Bunny visited with his many friends.
The little children were fascinated by the Bubble Machine as they chased them in the park.
The event features an Easter Train, a Dragon holding an Easter Egg, Easter elves and several games for children of all ages.
The Farmers’ Market was also held in the park for all to enjoy.
