Bernice LaScala, Residential Service Coordinator at the Frank D. Lanterman Regional Center for the Developmentally Disabled, will talk about the services of the Regional Centers at the Tuesday, April 25th meeting of the East Los Angeles-Montebello BPW at Marie Callender’s, 220 S. Atlantic Blvd., Monterey Park (Networking starts at 4:30 p.m. with dinner/meeting by 5:00 p.m.). The program and dinner is open to all interested people. At Lanterman, LaScala is responsible for overseeing services for 68 adults with Intellectual Disabilities. She has more than 25 years of experience working with adults with Intellectual Disabilities. She is a former Associate Director of MERCI, where she oversaw the operations of two residential homes and day programs. Her emphasize is in non-profit organizations to bring awareness to adults with varying abilities and to the aging population.
LaScala is a recent graduate from California State University, Los Angeles, where she got her BA in Sociology with a minor in Gerontology. She is a life-long learner and will be applying for a Master’s Programs in Gerontology. LaScala’s hobbies include genealogy, hiking, and long road trips. She likes to visit her family and friends in the Pacific Northwest Region when she wants to unwind from working too much. Being in nature gives her a sense of peace.
