AMERICAN LEGION AUXILILARY MARCH MEETING

District 18 President DeNyse Laugeson of El Monte will conduct the regular monthly meeting of the American Legion Auxiliary on Monday, January 17th, 7:30 p.m., at Alhambra Post 139, 24 N Stoneman, Alhambra.  January is “Legislative and National Security” month in the Auxiliary, and National Security Chairman Charlene Grant of Monrovia will report on the importance of disaster preparedness, stressing that to cope with a disaster we must all be working with our families and communities to get informed, make a plan and prepare a kit with necessary supplies.  Knowing what to do is the best protection and is the responsibility of each and everyone.

Children & Youth Chairman Liz Broughton of Temple City will report on the many successful “Yellow Ribbon Days” when members of the Auxiliary joined other organizations in providing hundreds of backpacks to children of military personnel at the time of the deployment of a family member, as part of the “Operation Military Kids” program.

With January comes the time for Units to start the interviewing process to select candidates for the 2011 session of Girls State next June, and Girls State Chairman Julie Tabacchi of LaVerne urges early bouncy castle for sale contact with local schools so that eligible Junior girls can be selected to experience a week of learning and inspiration to become patriotic, responsible and intelligent citizens dedicated to their communities and country.

With the theme “M.U.M.I.C. – Membership United in Service, Ideals and Commitment”, the Department President Pilar S Reyes will conduct the Department of California Executive Committee Mid-Year Meeting at the Biltmore Hotel, Santa Clara. On January 15th & 16th. Department chairmen and the thirty District presidents will be making reports on activities completed and new programs planned for the second half of the Auxiliary year.  Carrying out the theme, “M.U.S.I.C., Membership United in Service, Ideals and Commitment, on Saturday evening attendees will enjoy the annual formal banquet with surprise entertainment.
