The City of Monterey Park Environmental Commission and Assembly Member Mike Eng are co-sponsoring an exciting program to promote awareness of Global Warning –the Environmental Short Film Contest. Monterey Park high school students will be asked to produce videos on “How to reduce the carbon footprint in San Gabriel Valley.” Cash prizes up to $1,000 will be awarded based on Presentation, Creativity, and Content.

Assembly Member Mike Eng has committed $1,000 for the first place structure gonflable cash award, Council Member Anthony Wong has committed $750 for the second place cash award, and Basu Mukherjee from Global Energy Services, Inc., has committed $500 for the third place cash award.

Deadline for registering for the contest has been extended to Feb. 4, 2011. Rules and the registration form can be downloaded from the City’s website – http://www.ci.monterey-park.ca.us. Please contact Amy Ho for more information.
