BACK IN THE Saddle

BACK IN THE Saddle

By Mona Raskin

Our fragile economy has suddenly experienced a slight glimmer of hope. We recently learned that one of our financial institutions Wells Fargo Bank had apparently achieved a profitable quarter. Bank of America and Chase achieved a similar profit, as well. We can only hope this situation continues in an upward swing and our economy will once again be back to normal

Unfortunately, this gloomy atmosphere has prevailed and has managed to affect other industries and areas. In turn it has triggered health problems, physical as well as psychological. Many people have been overwhelmed with other serious concerns and therefore, they just ignore any health issues that may arise. Recently, the editor and publisher of The Citizen’s Voice, Nancy Arcuri experienced an accident while covering a newspaper event. She slipped and fell and managed to dislocate her right shoulder. Inflatable Water Slide It was very painful but she felt it might heal on its own/ Well it wasn’t okay and it was necessary for her to undergo a procedure to relocate the shoulder. She experienced both physical and spiritual pain. However, two weeks later she began to heal physically, as well as spiritually. We are happy to welcome her back in the saddle again.

Another example of appearing back in the saddle is none other than our former councilman and mayor, Francisco Alonso, On May 19th, 09 he will be a candidate for a congressional seat, recently vacated by Hilda Solis.

Francisco Alonso is a popular choice for this important seat for the following reasons:

  1. To begin with, Alonso was brought up in a family with emphasis on quality education.
  2. He attended Don Bosco High School (class’61)
  3. He became a school teacher at Salesian High School (Biology)
  4. Later he taught Math and than retired from the Baldwin Park School district
  5. He also had the honor of being elected twice as Mayor of the city of Monterey Park
  6. While in elected office, he always donated his entire salary for the betterment of his community
  7. He always believed that being a public servant means exactly that!  You serve the public, not the special interest groups, just the people.
  8. We would like to add that Francisco Alonso is one of our outstanding public figures and to prove how special he is, you should check out the special honor that has been bestowed on him for his sincere contributions and support for our city’s public library “Bruggemeyer Library”. A special room is named in his honor!
  9. We would like to personally add that over the years we have gained the trust and confidence in this outstanding man and believe we would all benefit from his winning the congressional seat!
