The celebration began on January 21st on Garvey Avenue between Garfield Avenue and Alhambra Avenue.  The entertainment was provided by Pop Rock Academy and DWP Dance group.

They sang and danced to the delight of the hundreds of people in the audience sitting across the street from the stage on Russell Avenue.

Mayor Henry Lo welcomed everyone to our Lunar New Year celebration. We stand strong. Happy New Year in the Year of the Rabbit!

Henry Lo was very happy to be the Master of Ceremonies. He was very happy to see the great turnout at this event that was cancelled for the last several years due to the Pandemic.

Mayor Pro Tem Jose Sanchez and his daughter thanked everyone for coming out to see us. He thanked the city staff and the World Journal staff for this wonderful Lunar New Year event.

Congressmember Judy Chu welcomed the crowd to Monterey Park to enjoy the Lunar New Year. Happy Lunar New Year, the “Year of the Rabbit”! We celebrate together and we are looking to return to a better future. She thanked the sponsors: City of Monterey Park and the World Journal. The newspaper reported any Asian Hate Crimes to the public. Have a Happy and Prosperous New Year!

Live entertainment was provided by members of the Galaxy Art Center to the delight of the guests. Galaxy Arts Center is Southern California’s largest Chinese musical performing group.

The Lion Dancers appeared to entertain to crowd. They danced to the beat of the drums and wished everyone a Very Happy New Year!

The Golden Dragon Dancers waited patiently for their turn to dance on stage and join in the celebration.

The celebration included several food booths, information booths, shopping booths and live entertainment to the enjoyment of the thousands of people who attended the Year of the Rabbit Lunar Festival in Monterey Park.
