SELECTS MONIQUE RODRIGUEZ AS ITS

“YOUNG CAREERIST FOR 2023”

East Los Angeles-Montebello Business and Professional Women (BPW) selected Monique Rodriguez, who is implemented and oversees the Cal VIP, a program designed to provide intensive case management to at risk youth ages 10-18 in order to reduce the cycle of generational violence, for the Boys and Girls Club of West San Gabriel and Eastside, as its “Young Careerist for 2023.” Rodriguez will be accepting the award at the Tuesday, January 24th dinner meeting of the East Los Angeles-Montebello BPW at the Marie Callender’s Restaurant, 220 S. Atlantic Blvd., Monterey Park. Networking starts at 4:30 P.M. Dinner starts at 5:00 P.M. and can be ordered from the menu. The meeting is open to the public, but reservations are required. Rodriguez is a Boyle Heights and East Los Angeles native resident who has been working to serve the community for more than ten years. She received her BA in Sociology from Mount Saint Mary’s University of Los Angeles in 2014 and began her career with the Boys and Girls Club of West San Gabriel Valley from 2012-2018 where she provided management support to the opening and program implementation of the Ramona Gardens and Estrada Courts public housing sites in Boyle Heights and East Los Angeles. In 2018 she was accepted into the University of Southern California, where she received her Master’s in Social Work in 2020. She has extensive experience in program development and management in fields of: youth services and homeless services, as well as adult and youth mental health. Rodriguez has recently rejoined the Boys and Girls Club of West San Gabriel Valley and Eastside, where she supports the oversight and implementation of Cal VIP, a program designed to provide intensive case management to at risk youth ages 10-18 in order to reduce the cycle of generational violence.

The Young Careerist Program of BPW recognizes women and men between the ages of 21 and 35 who have been in their profession or business for at least a year. Candidates first are selected at the local level and then proceed to the District level. That meeting will be Saturday, April 15th. From there they proceed to the State BPW level. That meeting will be Saturday, May 20th in Burbank, CA.
