Andrew Yam is a Candidate for the Garvey School Board

Andy Yam met with many of his supports including Jennifer, Dennis, Lesli, Peter, Mike and Shoron on August 18th at Top Island Seafood Restaurant in Alhambra.

Andy Yam, Monterey Park Councilmember Peter Chan and Charles Yam are family members.  Peter and Charles went to La Salle College in Hong Kong.  Many of these former students have kept in touch over the years and consider themselves family.

Judy Lee welcomed all of the guests to this event. We are here to support Andy Yam’s run for a seat on the Garvey school Board. Monterey Park only has one seat on the board.

Alhambra Councilmember Sasha Renee Perez welcomed everyone to Alhambra. She is happy that Andy is running for office. We need to elect young people. We need to educate  children in kindergarten through high school. Education is very important for all of us. She is happy to see more  members of AAPI running for political office.

Monterey Park Councilmember Peter Chan recalled that he watched Andy Yam grow up with his parents Janet Yu and Charles Yam. They consider themselves family. He is happy that Andy will help with education serving on the Garvey School Board.  Andy served on the Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library Board for several years. He is happy to see young people running for office. He advised Andy that you have a good future.

Monterey Park Mayor Henry Lo said he is very happy that Andy is running for the Garvey School Board. He served for 17 years on the Garvey School Board. We have to engage in the future. Andy served on the Library Board. He is please that Andy decided to run for the Garvey School Board. Students and parents need help with their children’s education. He will help provided the children with a better future. Andy is a good choice for the Garvey School Board. Please support Andy.

Former Monterey Park Mayor Mike Eng said Andy is supported by the Library Board and the Optimist Club. Andy helped Mary Wong with the children at the Asian Youth Center. Asian youth are part of our future. Andy has been raised with family values. He has ethic values and kindness values. He respects his elders. He is a spoke person for his generation. Please elect Andy Yam to the Garvey School Board. He supports him. You are our future.

Andy Yam thanked all of the speakers and his supporters.  He is the product of the family. He hopes to bring assistance to the school district. It is at the local level. We must connect with the students and parents. He plans to take the kids out to meet the future. In his first 100 days in office, he plans to put together a community project for the Garvey School District for the future. Please attend the School Board meetings. He has learned so much. Thank you for this journey. Please support him.

(Editor’s note: I live in the Garvey School District. I support Andy Yam and I will be voting for him in November. On September 15th I learned that the Garvey School District cancelled the November Election since Andy Yam was the only candidate running for the office.)
