SOROPTIMIST SEEKS DISTINGUISHED WOMEN FOR RUBY AWARD

The Ruby Award for “Making A Difference for Women” from Soroptimist International of Alhambra San Gabriel San Marino is awarded each year to a distinguished woman of the community. The Club is now seeking nominations for this award, which will be given in March 2011 at a Tuesday luncheon meeting at Almansor Court in Alhambra. In addition to the award, the recipient will receive a $100 check for the non-profit organization of winner’s choice.

The Ruby Award is given bouncy castle for sale each year to a woman who, through her professional or personal efforts, is making an extraordinary difference in the lives of women or girls. The award is named after Soroptimist International of the Americas Federation’s first President, Ruby Leed Minor. Previous awardees are Mary Cammarano, Keren Taylor, Dr. Kimberly Shriner, Cheryl Prentice, and Angelina Levy.

Soroptimist is an international women’s service organization of over 100,000 members in 119 countries working to advance human rights and the status of women. The organization raises money for community projects such as domestic violence prevention and awareness, helping young women in need, and literacy projects.

To nominate a distinguished woman, please send a letter, due December 15, with the nominee’s name, contact information, and accomplishments to Soroptimist Ruby Award, POB 343, Alhambra CA 91802.
