Fire Station 62 Open House
Fire Station 62 located at 2001 S Garfield Avenue in Monterey Park held an Open House on May 14th.
Monterey Park Fire Department is rated as a Class One.
Several fire trucks and a Paramedic Ambulance were parked on the side street for the 2,000 or more residents could inspect them.
Several residents climbed into a fire truck so they could have their pictures taken.
Young firefighters dressed in a turnout coat and a red fire hat took turns carrying a hose, knocking on a roof with a hammer and spraying water on a fire.
The firefighters hosted a Hot Dog lunch for the residents who attended this event and took a tour of our new station.
Two banners were displayed on the walls in the garage area complete with their Turnout Locket Room.
This station houses 7 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms on the second floor of this multi-level building that was built on the same site as the old fire station.
The kitchen and dining room were located on the third floor that was complete with a very large screen television set and 6 Lazy Boy chairs. They also had a laundry room located on the same floor.
They had a small deck with a grill for their outdoor cooking.
Members of our CERT Team were available to answer questions from the residents. They also askedĀ residents if they wished to join their team.
Jason Dhing, a Council Candidate for District 1 was helping wrap up the cooked Hot Dogs with the help of Mammey Lee, Nancy Omi-Hara and Rolando Yee.
Fire Chief Matt Hallock and Councilmember Peter Chan enjoyed our special event.
Mayor Henry Lo, Councilmember Hans Liang, Thomas Wong, Council Candidate for District 1, Vinh Ngo Council Candidate for District 5 and Delario Robinson, Council Candidate for District 5 joined in the celebration.
Fire Chief Matt Hallock gave a young firefighter a red fire hat since his father asked the chief to help him locate one of these treasured hats.
All of our residents and their guests were very impressed with our new Fire Station 62.
