MPK Bruggemeyer Library Announces 2022 Summer Reading Challenge for Children, Teens and Adults

Readers of all ages are encouraged to participate in the Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library’s 2022 Summer Reading Program. This year’s theme is “Read Beyond the Beaten Path!” Beginning June 7, 2022, children, teens and adults can register for the program by visiting montereypark.beanstack.org or by downloading the Beanstack app. Throughout the summer, participants can keep track of their reading to receive prizes and virtual badges. The program also features free activities and events for all ages including crafts, movie screenings and special performances.

Children’s Summer Reading Challenge

Children ages 0-12 can keep track of the hours they read or listen to books over the summer to earn prizes and virtual badges. Children who complete 12 hours of reading will receive a Panda Express reward and those who complete 24 hours will receive a free book. Children will receive a raffle ticket for every four hours that they read for a chance to win one of ten grand prizes.

Teen Summer Reading Challenge

Teens ages 12-18 can earn prizes by completing activities and reading or listening to books, comics, magazines, newspapers and eMedia. Teens who complete 12 hours of reading will receive a free book. Complete five activities for a chance to win a gaming keyboard and mouse.

Adult Summer Reading Challenge

Adults ages 18 and up can earn prizes by completing activities and reading or listening to books, magazines, newspapers and eMedia. Adults who complete 12 hours of reading will receive a free book. Complete five activities for a chance to win a set of hiking poles.

The Summer Reading Challenge continues through July 30 and is sponsored by the Friends of the Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library.
