SANDY THOMPSON TO SPEAK ABOUT “THE UNITED NATIONS’ 17 SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS” AT THE EAST LOS ANGELES-MONTEBELLO BUSINESS AND PROFESSIONAL MEETING ON FEBRUARY 23RD

Immediate Past National Federation of Business and Professional Women’s Clubs’ President and past President of the California Federation of Business and Professional Women Sandy Thompson will give a presentation on the “United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals” on Wednesday, February 23rd starting at 5:00 P.M. via Zoom. The Sustainable Development Goals or Global Goals (SDG) are a collection of 17 interlinked global goals designed to be a “blueprint to achieve a better and more

sustainable future for all.” The goals deal with poverty, hunger, education, health, equality, clean water, energy, economic growth, climate, peace, etc. It builds on the principle of “leaving no one behind.” The SDGs were set up in 2015 by the United Nations General Assembly as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that by 2030 all people enjoy peace and prosperity.
Thompson continues to serve on the Board of NFBPWC and is Past President of the California Federation of Business and Professional Women (CFBPW). She is a native Californian. She graduated from San Diego State University with a BA in Social Science and a MA in Special Education. She was employed by Amtrak for 35 years where she held a variety of positions including being a Train Manager responsible for the on board services of three trains, Manager of Union Station in Los Angeles and Director of Operations Management dealing with finances. She was a presenter at the NFBPWC North America-Caribbean Regional Conference in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Hollywood BPW honored Sandy with its Susan B. Anthony Award.
