ALHAMBRA HISTORICAL SOCIETY AND THE EARLY CHINESE COMMUNITY
The Alhambra Historical Society’s program meeting on Wednesday, November 17, at 7:30 p.m. will feature Eugene W. Moy talking about the Early Chinese Community in Alhambra, at the Masonic Center, 9 West Woodward, corner of First Street, in Alhambra.
Moy is a fourth generation Californian, a native of Los Angeles and a graduate of Cal State Long Beach. He has been active in the Chinese Historical Society of Southern California, is a charter member and a former President. He has done extensive research on the Chinese presence in the area and will present historical facts and images illustrating the early communities.
President Rose Marie Markus encourages everyone to bring memorabilia and photos related to the subject of the meeting. “This is for our `Show and Tell,’ and your chance to share your treasures and collections. We have tables set up to display the items so that others can view them. This is a part of each of our informative meetings, and adds so much to the evening,” she said.
The meeting is free and open to everyone, refreshments will be served, and parking is available in the lot and on the street.
The Alhambra Historical Society Museum is located at 1550 West Alhambra Road at Bushnell in Alhambra. The museum is open every Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m., and on the second and fourth Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. For more information call 626 300 8845.
