CFBPW SECRETARY MARYANN WESSON WILL SPEAK ON “HOW COVID-19 AFFECTS DIFFERENT GENERATIONS” AT THE EAST LOS ANGELES-MONTEBELLO BUSINESS AND PROFESSIONAL MEETING WITH STEPHANIE ESQUIVEL BEING RECOGNIZED AS ITS “YOUNG CAREERIST FOR 2021”
California Federation of Business and Professional Women’s Secretary will speak on “How COVID-19 Affects Different Generations – Now and in the Future” at the Wednesday, January 27th Zoom meeting of the East Los Angeles-Montebello Business and Professional Women. . When I was sixteen, my father decided he was tired of winter, and we left Minnesota.” She went to high school in Phoenix and Flagstaff in Arizona and then graduated from Reseda in California. She started college at California State University, Northridge but took a break to get married and have her two children. She went back to college and graduated with a degree in Sociology when her children were preschoolers. She started her career in social work but found her “path with a heart” in sales and sales management. She retired as Vice President of Sales for a metal working machine and tool distributing company. She is a long time member of Business and Professional Women and POWERtalk International. She is a certified Individual Development trainer for BPW. She trains in making effective presentations, adding humor to presentations, business etiquette and other related and very different subjects. She is especially interested in the multi-generation workplace as she grew up in a family with siblings from three different decades and sees the different perspectives of the world that difference sometimes creates.
In addition, East Los Angeles-Montebello Business and Professional Women (BPW) will recognize Stephanie Esquivel, who is Site Director of Estrada Courts Public Housing Site for the Boys and Girls Club of West San Gabriel, as its “Young Careerist for 2021.”
Esquivel grew up in Monterey Park. At a young age she was placed in foster care, but her grandmother was able to secure custody of her and her brother. She attended Mark Keppel High School. Once Esquivel graduated high school, she started working to help her grandmother and the household. She attends East Los Angeles College and is taking courses in Child Development and Psychology.
Esquivel started her career with Boys and Girls Club as a Homework Tutor and helped the younger members with their academics. She has worked at the Boys and Girls Club
for more than eight years. Esquivel is a passionate and dedicated young professional and loves her job. Soon after she was promoted to Program Coordinator, she was running many of the Club’s programs throughout the year. Her continued commitment and dedication to the organization is evident. Her most recent promotion was to Site Director of the Boys and Girls Club of Estrada Courts where manages and runs the site in the Public Housing developments.
The Young Careerist Program of BPW recognizes women and men between the ages of 21 and 35 who have been in their profession or business for at least a year. Candidates first are selected at the local level and then proceed to the District level. That meeting will be April 17th starting at 9:00 A.M. via Zoom. From there they proceed to the State BPW level. That meeting will be Saturday, May 15th.
