SHER SINGH TO DISCUSS “CULTURAL DIVERSITY, EQUITY AND INCLUSION” AT THE SIERRA MAR DISTRICT BUSINESS AND PROFESSIONAL WOMEN’S WINTER CONFERENCE

Sher Singh will give a presentation on “Cultural Diversity, Equity and Inclusion” at the Winter Conference of the Sierra Mar District Business and Professional Women on Saturday, January 16, 2021 via Zoom. The meeting will start at 9:00 a.m. Singh will be speaking at about 10:30 a.m. The conference is open to all interested people at no charge. Singh has facilitated Cultural Competency workshops for decades. She was President of the Cultural Task Force of Orange County, NY. She facilitated trainings for non-profits, for profits, educational institutions and civic groups. Singh sat on a domestic

violence board and mental health board dealing with under-layers of cultural
imbalances. She created the first ever Pine Bush Central School District Diversity Committee including students, staff and community members. Singh received an Orange County, N.Y. Human Rights Commission Tribute to Women of Achievement award. She was president of Middletown, NY BPW Club and a long-time member of BPW before coming to California. She has taught cultural diversity sessions for the National Federation of Business and Professional Women’s Clubs (NFBPWC) and is the NFBPWC Diversity Equity Inclusion (DEI) Chair. She is currently Treasurer of Bay Capital District BPW and Vice President of Downtown Sacramento Club.

The State Representative at the meeting will be Trudy Waldroop. Waldroop is a Past State President of the California Federation of Business and Professional Women, currently Secretary of Northern District BPW and President of Chico BPW. She is also a member of the National Association of Parliamentarians. She is a graduate of Chico High School and California State University, Chico (CSU). She served from 1977 to 2004 primarily as administrative support coordinator primarily for the Department of Anthropology of CSU. In 2004 she was awarded an honorary degree in Anthropology. Since retiring in 2004, she has worked as a retired annuitant, served as a member of the CSU Retired Staff Luncheon Committee and volunteered in the campus’ Valene L. Smith Museum of Anthropology and the Ada Schmidt Museum in Orland. She currently serves on the library commission for the City of Orland.

Sierra Mar District is based in the San Gabriel and Pomona Valleys and is part of the California Federation of Business and Professional Women (CFBPW).  The organization is a member of the National Federation of Business and Professional Women’s Clubs (NFBPWC) and BPW International. BPW has been advocates for women’s issues for more than 101 years.

The mission of the Sierra Mar District of the California Federation of Business and Professional Women (CFBPW) is “to promote and support equity for working women in all phases of their lives and to promote personal empowerment and professional development.” Our objectives are “to advocate on state and national legislative issues of importance to women, to promote personal and professional development for women and to foster connections among women to promote BPW and its members.” Membership is open to both men and women who support this mission and these objectives.
