MONTEREY PARK FIRE DEPARTMENT

On August 25, 2010, at 10:31 PM, the Monterey Park Fire Department responded to 501 S. Ramona Ave, in the City of Monterey Park for a structure fire at a residential home.

Monterey Park Fire units with the assistance of Alhambra Fire, LA County Fire and San Gabriel Fire Departments responded to the incident.

Upon arrival, Monterey Park Fire units encountered fire and smoke coming from the windows of the home. Firefighters made forcible entry into the structure and extinguished the fire while roof top ventilation was performed. One Firefighter was injured and transported to a local hospital by Paramedics after falling from the roof. The firefighter was released from the hospital earlier this morning. The home was unoccupied and no civilians were injured. The fire was extinguished at 11:02 PM.

Initial cause of the fire is under investigation at this time. The total fire loss is being placed at three hundred fifty thousand dollars, ($350,000) for structure damage and is considered a total loss.
