Monterey Park Fire Department
On February 22, 2009, at 1943 Hrs, the Monterey Park Fire Department responded to Lions Manor located at 215 N. Chandler Avenue, in the City of Monterey Park for a room and contents fire in a multi story senior living complex.
Monterey Park Fire units with the assistance of Alhambra, Los Angeles County, San Gabriel, Pasadena and Montebello Fire Departments responded to the incident.
Upon arrival Monterey Park Fire units encountered a bouncy castle for sale multi story senior living complex with smoke issuing from a third floor apartment window. Upon further investigation engine company personnel found a fire that had been extinguished by the automatic sprinkler system. It took four engine companies, and three ladder trucks to perform smoke removal, salvage and overhaul in the structure to help reduce property damage.
During fire ground operations no firefighters or civilians were injured. The estimated
cost of smoke and water damage to the building is $105,000.
The Monterey Park Fire Department Fire Investigation Unit is currently investigating the fire to determine the cause.
