Honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with Conscience
“The time is always right to do what is right.” – Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Los Angeles, CA — Thousands of people made history as they celebrated the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at the 35th Annual Kingdom Day Parade on Jan. 20, 2020 in Los Angeles, the largest of its kind in the nation. Under the theme of “Equality For All Humanity, Our Next Step,” politicians, activists, NGOs, high school bands, school children, trucks, floats, and bikers participated in the event. Members of the Federation of World Peace and Love (FOWPAL) also took part in the parade to honor Dr. King and his legacy while sharing messages about the International Day of Conscience, a new UN day that is essential to realizing Dr. King’s dream.
The United Nations declared April 5 as the International Day of Conscience in July 2019. FOWPAL firmly believes that it is critical to awaken the conscience in people’s hearts as conscience is the wellspring of love, peace, respect, and equality. Conscience, like a compass, guides humanity toward a brighter and better future. It empowers people to tolerate, forgive, and love one another, shortening the distance between people and between nations. This UN day serves to remind people to engage in self-reflection to improve themselves and their communities, sparking a crucial turning point for transforming our society and the world.
During the parade, many participants showed support for the UN day by taking photos with an International Conscience Day banner. Individuals were invited to visit a website designated for the day: www.ICday.org and follow the International Conscience Day on social media to spread positive energy and raise people’s awareness about the importance of conscience. FOWPAL invites everyone to change the world with conscience!
