Monterey Park City Council Candidate Bob Gin’s Fundraiser

Former Mayor Lily Lee Chen, Bob Gin and Congressmember Judy Chu joined together at the NBC Restaurant on January 10th with 150 family members and friends to support Bob Gin’s run for District 2 in the March 3rd Election.

Garvey School Boardmember Henry Lo, who is a candidate in District 4 and Alhambra School Boardmember Bob Gin, who is a candidate in District 2 are supporting each other in this Historical Monterey Park City Council Election.

This is the first time in the city’s 103-year history that not all of the registered voters can vote for our Councilmembers. You can only vote for one of the candidates in your district.

Mayor Hans Liang was the Master of Ceremony. He asked how everyone was doing tonight? We have a good crowd tonight.  We are here to raise funds and support Bob Gin as a new City Councilmember. He met Bob Gin in 2011 when they both ran for City Council. Neither of them was elected that time. Hans was later elected on his second attempt. Bob should be elected this time. Bob helped Hans with his insight. Bob helped us keep our fire department.

He introduced Congressmember and former Mayor Judy Chu, Assemblymember Ed Chau, Councilmember Stephen Lam, Councilmember Peter Chan, former Mayor Mike Eng, former Mayor David Lau, former Mayor Lily Lee Chen, former City Clerk Theresa Amador, Former City Clerk Dave Barron, San Gabriel Mayor Jason Pu, Garvey School Boardmember Henry Lo, Water Board Director Thomas Wong, Alhambra School Boardmember Wing Ho and members of the Chinese American Citizens Alliance from the LA Lodge.

Bob Gin’s grandchildren Kathleen, Hannah and Nicholas performed several songs to the delight of the audience.

Congressmember Judy Chu said she supports of Bob Gin 101% for the Monterey Park City Council. Bob is more than qualified to be on the Monterey Park City Council. She called him Mister Monterey Park. His roots go back to living in our city for 62 years. He went to school here and raised his family in our city. He is a leader in so many areas in Monterey Park. He supports education and has served 18 years on the Alhambra School Board. He helped three candidates get elected and works hard for the students. He purposed Mental Health programs at the school district.

Everyone helped to build our new library. Bob Gin serves as President of the Library Foundation. He helps to raise funds to support our library.

Bob Gin is a member of the Shepherd of the Hills Church. He also supports the Boy Scouts and the Chinese American Citizens Alliance.

Bob Gin works hard to support our city. We need Bob Gin to serve on the Monterey Park City Council. He is a great leader for Monterey Park. He will help to bring the city up to the next level. We need to vote for Bob Gin for the Monterey Park City Council on March 3rd.

Assemblymember Ed Chau said he has known Bob for the last two decades. He is working for the kids. He is helping to educate the children. Public service is part of Bob Gin’s DNA. Bob and Diane have served the community. He is grateful to serve with Bob Gin.

Members of the Monterey Park City Council support Bob Gin. It takes sacrifices to serve the community. He thanked Bob Gin. Please help Bob Gin to be elected to the City Council.

Mike Eng said this Council supports and honors the firefighters and police officers. Bob Gin is a first responder. He will help educate the residents. He helps the residents. Please support Bob Gin. He is in a tough race. Please help him with money.

Bob Gin is in public service and wants to serve the community sitting on the City Council.

Councilmember Stephen Lam said he supports Bob Gin. He is Mister Monterey Park. He has served 18 years on the Alhambra School Board. Monterey Park has four school districts. Many of our high school students go on to Ivy League Schools. He thanked Bob for his dedication to education.

Bob Gin supports the library. We need to raise more funds for the library. Stephen recalled that his spent his childhood in the library. We need more funds to keep the library open for seven days.

Please support Bob Gin. He supported Lily Lee Chen, Judy Chu, Mike Eng, Peter Chan and me, Stephen Lam.

Stephen thanked all of the guests for attending this event. We need to elect Bob Gin on March 3rd.

Councilmember Peter Chan said he worked together with Bob Gin for the library funding. The Gin family is important in Monterey Park. We need Bob’s qualifications on the Council. Please elect Bob Gin for the City Council. He is looking forward to working with Bob on the Monterey Park City Council.

San Gabriel Mayor Jason Pu said that Bob Gin helped him to be elected to the City Council. Bob helped him to navigate the Council. Bob will help Monterey Park move forward.

Bob Gin will follow Judy Chu, Lily Lee Chen, and Mike Eng as the trailblazers. He will do a great job. He understands the issues. He is the best person for the Monterey Park City Council.

Jason Pu said he is looking forward to working with Bob Gin on the Monterey Park City Council.

Theresa Amador said she has served with Bob Gin on the Library Board. We raise funds for the library. We need Bob Gin to win a seat on the City Council. We support you.

Bob Gin thanked Judy Chu, Mike Eng, Hans Liang, Peter Chan and Stephen Lam for their support. He thanked the Library Board for their support. There is so much to do in Monterey Park. He will work together with the other Councilmembers and city staff.

He introduced his wife, Diane and his daughters: Kimberly, Denise, Tiffany and Chelsea to the guests. He also introduced his mother Pam Gin, his grandchildren and other family members.

Bob Gin loves Monterey Park. It is a wonderful city with good fire and police departments. He attended schools in the Alhambra School District and East Los Angeles College. He has served on the Alhambra School Board for 18 years.

He is happy to run for City Council in District 2. I am making a difference for our city like I make a difference in the Alhambra School District. He will help our city. He is looking forward to working with Hans, Peter and Henry on the Council. We will work together for all of the residents of Monterey Park.

Bob Gin wants to promote businesses on Garvey from Atlantic to New Avenue like Atlantic Times Square. It took us 20 years to open the Market Place. We need the Council to work to benefit our city. We need the tax benefits to move the city forward for our residents. We need more firefighters and police officers. We need to keep our city safe.

Homeowners enjoy the fruit of our labors. We need more affordable livings in Monterey Park. The state wants to develop more housing near the transit points.

We need to work with Judy Chu and Ed Chau, our community activist for many years.

We kept our fire department. We helped to raise the library tax to support the library. The second library tax lost by 2%. We need to raise more funds for the library. We need to support the library to buy new books, computers and other necessary equipment.

This is about being an elected official. I will work for you and serve our city.

Henry Lo, a candidate in District 4, said the Garvey School Board works with the Alhambra School Board. He has served on the Garvey School Board for 16 years. He has worked together with Bob Gin. He is supporting Bob Gin and Bob Gin is supporting Henry Lo for Council. We both need your support.

Mike Fong, a member of the Los Angeles Community College District, said he has known Bob Gin for years. He helped at Alhambra Schools and East Los Angeles College. He supports our students. He gives to his community. We need Bob Gin to serve on the City Council. Please vote for Bob Gin on March 3rd.

David Lau said he is honored to endorse Bob Gin for City Council. He said that Bob is qualified for this leadership. He was raised in Monterey Park. He listens and takes action. Bob works with the community to make Monterey Park one of the best cities in the USA.

Lily Lee Chen said Bob Gin was her first volunteer to support her when she ran for City Council. He has compassion for Monterey Park. She is proud to support Bob Gin.

Education is important to all of us. The children are the future hope of the future of our world.

Bob Gin will provide leadership in Monterey Park. He is the future of Monterey Park and the next generation.
