Two Valley National Champion Runners!
Phillip Rocha of Azusa, shown here qualifying at USA Track and Field Junior Olympics West Region 15 Championships in Las Vegas on June 26, then traveled to Lisle, IL (near Chicago), and won three golds medals in USA Track and Field Youth Outdoor National Championships on July 4 weekend. Rocha competes in midget boys division for Southern California Road Runners. Elizabeth Lyons of Rosemead won the gold medal in the 3000 meters race walk in young women’s category at the USA Track & Field Youth Outdoor National Championships in Lisle, IL (near Chicago) on June 29. Lyons time of 24:32.29 and race form earned her the national championship as her efforts gave her Southern California Road Runners teammates the team lead on the first day of the national championships. Elizabeth Lyons of Rosemead competed for Southern California Road Runners and earned a seventh place medal in the 2000 meters young women’s steeplechase at the USA Track & Field Youth Outdoor National Championships on June 29 in Lisle, Il.
