The Gingerbread Lady

Theatre lovers will be in for a treat during the weekend of August 21st, and 22nd in Monterey Park.  A Library program, “The Gingerbread Lady” by Neil Simon, is set to perform at the City Council Chambers.  Since this program is sponsored by the Friends of the Monterey Park Library, it will be free to the public on a first-come, first-served basis.  This play is produced by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc.

Director is Bette Rae. The Cast members are: Cici Lau, Brent Anderson, Chelsea Taylor, Eileen Soong, Suthern Hayes, and Matias Ponce.

Ms. Cici Lau, Program Chair of Friends of the Monterey Park Library, indicates that this is the 7th year the library presents theatre program. She has always been active in theater initiatives that bring the arts to the non-traditional and underserved populations of ages. Over the years she has produced and acted in a number of plays that have toured the public schools, community halls, museums, senior day care centers in areas of Alhambra, El Monte, Malibu, Pasadena, and Monterey Park, as well as public libraries, including the Central Library in down town Los Angeles, Chinatown Library, San Gabriel Library, Rosemead Library, Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library, and Wilshire Library. She has just appeared in the national TV commercial, Kleenex last winter through early this year.  Her recent theatre credits include, “Servant of Two Masters”, and “Joy Luck Club”.  Her up-coming feature films are “Burning Palms”, and Universal City Studio’s “HOP”.  On July 25, Cici will appear in a new play, “The Ring Road” at the Calabasas International Theatre Festival, www.citfestival.org
