VERONICA LOPEZ FROM ASSEMBLYWOMAN BLANCA RUBIO’S OFFICE TO SPEAK AT THE SIERRA MAR DISTRICT BUSINESS AND PROFESSIONAL WOMEN
Veronica Lopez from Assemblywoman Blanca Rubio’s office will be the morning speaker at the Sierra Mar June Training meeting on Saturday, June 15th at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 2009 S. Garfield Avenue, Monterey Park. The meeting is open to the public, but registration is required by contacting Linda Wilson at lindalwilson@juno.com or calling (626) 307-5650. The meeting is free to the public, but for those interested in a box lunch the cost is $10.
Lopez is the liaison between Assemblywoman Rubio and her community. Her job is to meet with local leadership to learn about the needs of the community and help everyone to work toward these goals. Lopez’ policy areas are aging and long term care, health related legislation, domestic violence and sexual harassment issues. Assemblywoman Rubio chairs the Select Committee on Domestic Violence in the Assembly. Sexual harassment and abuse are the study issues for the California and National Federation of Business and Professional Women for the next year.
Lopez is the mother of four – ages 20-30 with two grandchildren on the way. She was an avid volunteer at her children’s school. She advocated for more classroom and parent involvement. Funding for all schools in the District became her passion. Because she wanted to continue her advocacy, she said “yes” to a job with Assemblywoman Rubio on election night in 2016.
After the box lunch there will be a dessert auction fundraiser for Sierra Mar District.
