Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library Unveils Newly Updated Teen Room
Monterey Park, Calif. – May 7, 2019 – The Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library is excited to announce the unveiling of its newly updated Teen Room.
Community members are invited to participate in a ribbon cutting celebration on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at 4 p.m. in the Teen Room on the first floor of the library.
The Teen Room space has been updated to meet the changing needs of today’s young library patrons by creating a welcoming and flexible space for teens in the library to gather, read, study and spend time with their peers in a safe and supportive environment. Teens make up a large portion of library users and teen programming at the library promotes leadership, volunteerism, peer mentorship and social interaction.
“Teens rely heavily on the resources and meeting space available to them in the library in order to complete homework assignments, prepare for college and to read for pleasure … and we are thrilled to update this space to better meet their needs,” said Acting City Librarian Diana Garcia.
The Teen Room improvements were made possible by a $15,000 donation from the Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library Foundation. The Library Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) organization that raises funds to support the library’s collection, sponsor programs, and purchase new furnishings and equipment including computers, iPads and Chromebooks.
