Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library Hosts Photo Exhibit on US-China Presidential Visits

Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library will host a photo exhibit documenting the history of United States presidential visits to China. President Richard Nixon’s landmark 1972 trip to China will be featured along with visits by Presidents George Bush, Bill Clinton and other US leaders. The exhibit called “US-China Presidential Visits,” celebrates the 40th anniversary of US-China relations. In addition, US magazine covers with Chairman Mao and US and China leaders, and Nixon and Mao memorabilia will be on display.

The exhibit opens on Tuesday, January 15 and will run through January 27. An opening ceremony featuring guest speakers and presentations will be held on Tuesday, January 15 at 2 p.m. on the first floor of the library. For more information, contact the library at 626-307-1368.

The exhibit is organized by Pedro Chan, Ph.D., who has an impressive interest in presenting US-China history exhibits at public libraries and museums. His past exhibits included “Salute to WWII Flying Tigers in China,” and “Sun Yat-sen’s Lasting Legacy: 150th Anniversary Exhibit.” Chan is a past president of the Chinese American Citizens Alliance Los Angeles Chapter and is currently a member of the Monterey Park Sister Cities Commission.

The Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library is the city’s public library located at 318 S. Ramona Avenue, Monterey Park, CA 91754.
