LOS ANGELES COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY RENEE ROSE TO DISCUSS “DEPENDENT AND ELDER ABUSE” AT THE SIERRA MAR DISTRICT BUSINESS AND PROFESSIONAL WOMEN’S FALL CONFERENCE

Renee Rose, who is the Los Angeles County Deputy-in-Charge Elder Abuse Section, White Collar Crimes will speak on “Dependent and Elder Abuse” at the Fall Conference of the Sierra Mar District Business and Professional Women on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 2009 S. Garfield Avenue, Monterey Park. Registration is at 8:30 a.m. with the meeting starting at 9:00 a.m. Rose will be speaking at about 10:30 a.m. The conference and luncheon are open to all interested people. Rose grew up in the San Fernando Valley and graduated from UC Santa Barbara with a Bachelor of Arts in Law and Society and a Juris Doctorate from Southwestern University School of Law in Los Angeles. Upon her law school graduation in 1991, she joined the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office and lived in the Coachella Valley. In 1994, she joined the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office where she has spent a majority of her prosecutorial career in Specialized Units such as the Hardcore Gang Unit, the Major Narcotics Division and the Arson and Explosives Unit. In those assignments, she has prosecuted several gang murderers, large scale international narcotics traffickers and methamphetamine lab operators as well as serial arsonists. In April 2017, she was promoted to Deputy-in-Charge of the Elder and Dependent Adult Abuse Unit where she supervises five senior Deputy District Attorneys who handle cases of physical abuse, emotional abuse, physical neglect and financial abuse of victims 65 years and older as well as victims that are developmentally disabled adults over 18 years of age throughout all of Los Angeles County.
Officer Jesus Rojas from the El Monte Police Department will be the afternoon speaker. His topic is “Phone and other Electronic Scams.” It has been reported that people lose $905 million from phone scams. Officer Rojas will explain how to avoid becoming the next victim of scammers.

Sierra Mar District is based in the San Gabriel and Pomona Valleys and is part of the California Federation of Business and Professional Women.  The organization is a member of the National Federation of Business and Professional Women’s Clubs (NFBPWC) and BPW International. BPW has been advocates for women’s issues for more than 98 years.

The mission of the Sierra Mar District of the California Federation of Business and
