Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library Introduces “Coding with Arduino” Class to Foster Youth STEM Skills

Are you age 9 or older? Are you interested in creating awesome projects involving bright, colorful lights? Do you want to learn how electricity works and how to control it? If so, this is your invitation to join the Coding with Arduino program at the Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library this summer. Throughout this program, you will learn how to code, get to play with professional electronic equipment, and explore the world of electricity. Join the class to learn how to become a part of the increasingly technological future!

The program will meet on Tuesdays from June 26 to August 7, from 3-5 p.m. in the library’s computer lab. This program is for ages 9 and older.

The library is offering the Coding with Arduino program with the goal of teaching youth skills that reflect their love for computers and to encourage them to pursue careers in Science Technology, Engineering and Math. STEM skills are deemed necessary for 21st career success.

Coding with Arduino program is a project of the Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library and the California State Library. It is supported by California Library Services Act funding which is administered by the California Library Services Board. The Arduino hardware is supported by the Southern California Edison’s “Building 21st Century Robotics Skills for Tweens and Teens’” grant. The Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library provides access to technology tools with the goal of promoting education and success for everyone in our community.
