1500 WEST ALHAMBRA ROAD — WHAT’S IN STORE?
Join the Alhambra Historical Society on Wednesday, May 23 at 7 p.m. in the Masonic Center, 9 West Woodward, corner of First Street, in Alhambra to hear Michael McCollum talk about preserving and revitalizing 1500 West Alhambra Road, which adjoins the Historical Society Museum—and applaud the new Board member who will be installed.
“The long brick building at the corner of West Alhambra Road and Electric Avenue has just turned 100 years old,” states McCollum. “Originally a general grocery store, it has also housed a barber shop, laundromat, book printing press, and museum over the years. We will do a deep dive into the history of this building and the people who built their businesses there over the last century, and then hear from the building’s new owner what its new chapter will be . . . . and why that has involved installing 511 pieces of glass.”
Please join the Historical Society for this interesting talk, learn more about our history, view items on display from Alhambra’s past; and enjoy refreshments during “Meet and Greet” beginning at 7 p.m. At 7:30 the meeting and program will begin. Admission is free.
