ANNOUNCING THE 7TH ANNUAL EMPTY BOWLS EVENT, SUNDAY, APRIL 29TH AT THE SIERRA MADRE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH

Make a difference for families experiencing homelessness by eating delicious soup! Family Promise of San Gabriel Valley is holding their seventh annual Empty Bowls event, to support families affected by homelessness. The event takes place from 12pm to 3pm on Sunday, April 29th at the Sierra Madre United Methodist Church, 695 W. Sierra Madre Blvd., Sierra Madre, CA 91024.

Choose a beautifully handcrafted bowl from among dozens created by local artisans and then savor a range of tasty soups donated by restaurateurs. At this family-friendly event, you can have a chance to win wonderful prizes. Following the event, you can keep your soup bowl as a reminder that some people have an empty bowl not by choice, but by unfortunate circumstance – or you can give the bowl back to families who are graduating from Family Promise’s program and moving into new homes.

All proceeds will support Family Promise of San Gabriel Valley (FPSGV), a non-sectarian 501(c) 3 non-profit organization that unites faith congregations, non-partisan groups and a school district to offer homeless families temporary housing and hospitality, social support, and assistance in finding employment and housing.

Karen Roberson, Acting Executive Director of Family Promise of San Gabriel Valley, says: “Empty Bowls is a great opportunity for us to meet each other and realize how much our volunteer community does to help our families through their struggle to regain homes. Our artists and our restaurants make this a fun and memorable event. Our alumni families love to come and see all who were there for them in a time of need.”

More and more Southern California kids and families are experiencing homelessness than ever before. FPSGV has provided over 16,000 bed nights and more than 48,000 meals to families, keeping 150 children off the streets. Of the families who have participated in FPSGV’s program, more than 65 percent have secured permanent housing and 78 percent of our adult clients have secured stable employment. Visit FamilyPromiseSGV.org to learn more.

Admission to Empty Bowls is $30 in advance (through April 28th) or $35 at the door. You can learn more and purchase advance tickets on FPSGV’s registration website at http://bit.ly/EmptyBowls18.
