BARBARA PHILLIPS TURNER TO SPEAK ABOUT AFRICAN-AMERICAN WOMEN TO EAST LOS ANGELES-MONTEBELLO BUSINESS AND PROFESSIONAL WOMEN FOR BLACK HISTORY MONTH
Barbara Phillips Turner will talk about African-American women and their contributions to society at the dinner meeting of the East Los Angeles-Montebello Business and Professional Women on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at Marie Callender’s Restaurant, 220 S. Atlantic Blvd., Monterey Park (Networking starts at 4:30 P.M. with dinner to be before 5:00 P.M.). Attendees will be able to order of the menu. Turner started teaching at Pasadena City College in 1979 as an associate professor of psychology. In 1992 she received the Risser Award honoring the teacher of the year. Turner is on the Board of Friendship Baptist Church and active with Family Promise of San Gabriel Valley.
Turner earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in psychology from California State University, Northridge. She has served on the Pasadena Commission on the Status of Women, has chaired the Affirmative Action Task Force for the City of Pasadena and was the Coordinator for Pasadena City College’s Coordinator for the Diversity Initiative.
