Assemblymember Chau Hosts Fifth Annual “Operation Gobble” – Turkey giveaway
On November 15, Assemblymember Ed Chau (D- Monterey Park), in collaboration with the San Gabriel Valley Water Company and the California American Water Company, gave out two hundred turkeys during the Fifth Annual “Operation Gobble” Turkey Giveaway. The event was held at the Live Oak Park Community Center in the City of Temple City.
“This Thanksgiving season, I hope that we are all touched by the spirit of the holiday and remember those who are less fortunate,” said Assemblymember Chau. “Operation Gobble aims to shine a light on the issue of food inequality that affects many Californians, while supporting the organizations that are at the forefront of ending this inequality.”
“Operation Gobble” turkeys were distributed to local charitable organizations and food banks, which serve low-income families in the 49th Assembly District and the Greater San Gabriel Valley. The 2017 recipients of donated turkeys include: Home of Angels; Boys and Girls Club of West San Gabriel Valley; Asian Youth Center; Kiwanis Club of Temple City; El Monte/South El Monte Emergency Resources Association; Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States, Greater El Monte Post 10218; and Church of Our Saviour.
Assemblymember Chau represents the 49th Assembly District, comprised of the communities of Alhambra, Arcadia, El Monte, Monterey Park, Rosemead, San Gabriel, San Marino, Temple City and portions of Montebello and South El Monte.
