Monterey Park’s Certification of the March 7th Election Results

During the April 5th Council Meeting the sitting Councilmembers validated the election results with a yes vote.

Councilmember Peter Chan, Councilmember Hans Liang, City Clerk Vince Chang and City Treasurer Joseph Leon each won their re-election bids.

The Library Measure LL failed to get a 2/3 or 66.6% of the vote so the measure failed.

Deputy City Clerk Cindy Trang administered the Oath of Office to City Clerk Vince Chang.

City Clerk Vince Chang administered the Oath of Office to Councilmember Peter Chan, Councilmember Hans Liang and City Treasurer Joseph Leon.

Councilmember Chan thanked all of the residents for their support and their trust in him. He will do what is best for the city and the people. He will be termed out in the next four years. He thanked all of the candidates. He suggested that they keep on working for city. He thanked his wife, Jenny Chan and their two sons for their love and support.

Councilmember Hans Liang said it is honored and a privilege to be re-elected. He thanked all of his supporters. They have a lot of work to improve our city. He thanked his wife, Loni, for her love and support.

Mayor Teresa Real Sebastian, Mayor Pro Tem Stephen Lam and Councilmember Mitch Ing congratulated the winners.

City Treasurer Joseph Leon thank the residents for their 10 years of support. This is his last term. He thanked the Council and City Clerk for their support. His job is to keep our funds safe.

City Clerk Vince Chang thanked the residents for allowing him to serve as City Clerk. He thanked his staff: Cindy Trang, Helena Cho, Anna Luna and Timothy Huynh for their support. He also thanked former City Clerks Theresa Amador, Pauline Lemire and Dave Barron for their support.

Councilmembers Peter Chan and Hans Liang rotated their seats since Peter Chan received 313 more votes then Hans Liang in the March election.

All of these four elected officials will be termed out in 2021.
