Guests who attended the sixth annual fund raising event for Family Promise of San Gabriel Valley on April 2nd picked out their special bowls created and donated by local artists.

This event was held at Sierra Madre United Methodist Church, one of the nineteen host churches, who help homeless families find jobs and housing.

Take a peek into one of the many rooms setup to house families overnight in the churches.

The local artists also had booths on the church grounds to display and sell their artwork and jewelry.

Volunteers were stationed in a long line and ready to serve delicious soups to the guests who now had their own bowls.

Local restaurants and cooks generously donated the soups, bread and cookies.

Students from Gabrielino and Mark Keppel High Schools donated their time and talent to greet the guests, serve the cookies and help bus the tables.

The guests enjoyed their favorite soups, fresh breads and cookies as wells a friendship during the event.

Barbara Phillips Turner, Executive Board Member at Friendship Baptist Church, greeted the guests to this special event. Enjoy your lunch and please to buy raffle tickets for fourteen baskets donated by several churches to raise additional funds for Family Promise.

The gift baskets were on display to entice the guests into trying to win the baskets of their choice.

On the beautiful spring afternoon Executive Director Matthew Rayburn was joined by his wife, Shirley and their daughters, Destiny and Adis.

One of the many lucky winners accepted their prize in the presence of Matthew Rayburn, Barbara Phillips Turner and the young guests who help to draw the winning tickets.

Barbara Phillips Turner thanked the 261guests and all of the volunteers for attending this event.

Family Promise of San Gabriel Valley is a nonprofit organization founded in 2009 on the belief that every child should have a home. Our programs ensure that homeless families with children stay intact and quickly begin regaining stable housing and employment with a supportive, volunteer-driven network.
