The Citizen’s Voice proudly endorses Monterey Park’s Councilmember Peter Chan and Councilmember Hans Liang for reelection to the City Council.

They have dedicated their last four years serving on the Council to promote additional shopping in the city at several locations in the city as well as help to bring in Costco, Home Depot, In and Out Burgers, Chick-Fla-A and Starbucks to the Market Place.

The Market Place, with these famous stores, is scheduled to be opened by the Spring of 2018.  This just the first site to be developed at the Market Place with additional sites being developed for more local shopping by M & M in the future.  Long time residents have been waiting for 20 years for brand names stores to open in our Monterey Park.

Councilmember Peter Chan and Councilmember Hans Liang have also worked with developers to bring in three hotels on Atlantic to host the many tourists who visit Monterey Park.

These stores and hotels will provide Monterey Park with additional sales and bed taxes that will help to pay for various city’s services that include the fire department, the police department, street repairs, the park services and more.

The Citizen’s Voice proudly endorses City Clerk Vince Chang and City Treasurer Joseph Leon for reelection to their elected offices.

They were not challenged in the March 7th election so they have already won their current offices.

The Citizen’s Voice proudly endorses Measure LL, which is a library tax that replaces Measure C, that sunsets in 2018.

This property tax of $25 a year for single family home, $50 a year for each parcel improved with two residential units (not a condo project), $75 a year for each parcel improved with three or more residential (not a condo project) and  $75 a year on each parcel improved with a non-residential building.

This tax will run for the next 20 years allowing the Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library additional funding to extend their hours of operations, increase funding for additional books, DVDs, computers and other materials as well as upgrading the building as needed.

Monterey Park residents have already voted in School Bonds to educate the youth in our community.

This library tax will be used to continue to educate and entertain all of the residents of our hometown and others who visit the Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library every day.
