On January 18th the Monterey Park City Council awarded a Franchise Agreement to Athens Services for residential waste collection and recycling services.

Athens Service was the lowest bidder for the residential services.

The Council also awarded a Franchise Agreement to Athens Services and a Franchise Agreement to Ware Disposal for the commercial waste hauling.

Athens Services and Ware Disposal were the two lowest bidders for the commercial services.

Each contract is for term of seven years base on Measure BB that is now the Monterey Park Municipal Code 6.09 – Solid Waste Franchises Code.

Athens Services and Ware Disposal will be reaching out to their customers before August 31th with educational information and new bins or wheeled carts.
