Endorsements for Monterey Park’s March 7th Election

The Citizen’s Voice Newspaper proudly endorses Councilmember Peter Chan and Councilmember Hans Liang for re-election to the City Council.

Peter Chan and Hans Liang have both worked with the other Councilmembers and city staff over the last four years to increase the public safety in our city as well as bring in new businesses into the Market Place and other sections of the city.

Peter Chan and Hans Liang have both working with the other Councilmembers, city staff and developers to bring in three new hotels on Atlantic and redesign the traffic lights so traffic will move smoother.

The sales and bed taxes from new businesses and new hotels will increase the General Funds that will help increase our employees income, pay for more police officers and firefighters, pay for road improvements as well as new sewer and water lines.

Monterey Park is 100 years old and needs an increase in sales and bed taxes to upgrade our neighborhoods.

Councilmember Peter Chan and Councilmember Hans Liang have been working to improve our city over the last four years for all of us.

Councilmember Peter Chan and Councilmember Hans Liang have earned your vote to serve Monterey Park for the next four years.

The Citizen’s Voice Newspaper also endorses City Clerk Vincent Dionicio Chang for re-election to the City Clerk’s Office. He ran unopposed so he has already won his seat.

The Citizen’s Voice Newspaper also endorses City Treasurer Joseph Leon for re-election to the City Treasurer’s Office. He ran unopposed so he has already won his seat.

The Citizen’s Voice Newspaper also endorses Measure LL, which is a library tax that replaces Measure C, that sunsets in 2018.

This property tax of $25 a year for single family home, $50 a year for each parcel improved with two residential units (not a condo project), $75 a year for each parcel improved with three or more residential (not a condo project) and  $75 a year on each parcel improved with a non-residential building.

This tax will run for the next 20 years allowing the Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library additional funding to extend their hours of operations, increase funding for additional books, DVDs, computers and other materials as well as upgrading the building as needed.

Monterey Park residents have already voted in School Bonds to educate the youth in our community.

This library tax will be used to continue to educate and entertain all of the residents of our hometown and others who visit the Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library every day.

Please vote in the March 7th Election.

Since Los Angeles County will run the election from Norwalk we, the voters, will no longer be able to watch the ballots being counted at City Hall. That part of watching history being made will be lost on March 7th.
