Day Of The Dead

Catrina and Isabel welcomed guests to the Great Monterey Park Chamber of Commerce on November 3rd to celebrate “Dia de los Muertos”.

The altar was decorated with flowers, candles, favorite foods; drinks and more in honor of loved ones.

Rosa Diaz, from SKIN FX, painted faces in honor of the celebration.  She is one of the many local businesses in our city.

Artwork in honor of the celebration was displayed inside of the famous El Encanto, the current home of the Chamber.

Frieda Khalo made a guest appearance at the party.

Janelle Gonzalez led the Aztec Blessing before the band played. She asked the guests to join her and think of their departed loved ones as she bless the North, East, South and West with white sage.

Dancers and band members of the Eastside Heartbeats entertained the audience with their fancy footwork and great sounds.

The event featured books on the Day of the Dead, Voter information, gifts and more.

The band played into the night as the guests enjoyed a delicious Mexican dinner.

Rogue Badillo and Julianna Jaureque are 8th grade students at St. Mary’s School. They set up a booth at the event. They are funding raising for their class trip to Washington, DC.
