Hispanic Heritage Programs
Librarian Cindy Costales welcomed the guests to another celebration of the Hispanic Heritage held at the Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library on October 16th.
She introduced Esperanza Flores and her Folklorica Dance Group to the audience.
Esperanza Flores thanked the guests and spoke about her 300 students who are between the ages of two and 92. She is privileged to be here to share her Hispanic culture with all of you. She explained that Folklorico is a cultural dance program from Mexican and Spain.
One group of dancer dressed in colorful clothing performed a Spanish dance to the delight of the audience.
Flamingo Dancers filled the room with energy as they performed their art.
Young dancers performed another Spanish dance dressed in flowered outfits.
Another group of dancers dressed in custom white performed a dance from Veracruz, a very warm city in Mexico.
Another group of dancers performed a Spanish dance to honor the month of May.
Another group of dancers performed a lively dance from Columbia in Latin America.
Young dancers performed the famous “Marengo” from the Dominican Republic. They brought the house down with their number.
Another group of dancers dressed in colorful garb performed a Mexican folk dance.
Another group of dancers performed another Mexican folk dance dressed in colorful folk dress.
A lone dancer performed the famous “Sinaloense” to the approval of the audience.
Another group of dancers performed the famous “Son De La Negra” as the last act of the show.
Esperanza Flores thanked everyone for sharing in her culture. She said: “don’t forget who you are and where you came from.” She asked God to bless the guests.
This was another wonderful cultural celebration held at the Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library.
