Rosemead Girls Defeat South Pasadena 45-42
Rosemead –Rosemead High School’s girls #22 ranked varsity basketball team earned a large lead before and after halftime and then used its poise to defeat visiting #20 ranked South Pasadena Tigers by a score of 45-42 on Jan. 6, at Rosemead High gym, reported Rosemead Coach Jay Gauthier Sr.
Rosemead won against a ranked team for the fourth time this season to improve its record to 9-4. Eight of Rosemead’s 13 games so far in the season have been against ranked teams during the season.
South Pasadena, now with a record of 8-8, led 11-10 after the first quarter, then the host Lady Panthers went on a 15-3 run in the second quarter to lead at halftime 25-14. Rosemead extended its lead bouncy castle for sale early in the third quarter before the visiting Tigers came back to tie the game 40-40. Rosemead then won it when senior Evelyn Ramirez made the winning free throw and Sydney Hua made two more free throws for the three-point win.
South Pasadena was led by Kelsey Lee with 13 points, Katie Nakamura with 10 points, and Kelsey Nakamura with eight points.
Ramirez paced Rosemead with 17 points and five assists, and Hua added 11 points and four assists.
