RHS Girl’s Basketball Has “Good Week”

Rosemead –Rosemead High School’s girls varsity basketball team “had a good week’ in the Cantwell Sacred Heart of Mary Tournament last week reported Rosemead Head Coach Jay Gauthier Sr.

Rosemead played tourney host Cantwell to start the tourney and played “a really good team,” said Gauthier, and the Lady Panthers lost 54-46.  Senior guard Evelyn Ramirez scored 16 points and had nine rebounds and two steals, and freshman Lady Panther Melody Gauthier scored 11 points, and had 14 rebounds, eight assists and two blocks.

The Lady Panthers won their next two games. Rosemead defeated St. Mary’s Academy (Inglewood) 54-42. Rosemead led by as many 20 points in the second half. Ramirez scored 23 points, had 13 rebounds, three steals and three assists, Gauthier scored 15 points and had five rebounds, and senior guard Jeanne Tran scored 11 points and had six rebounds, six assists, two steals and two blocks.

In the quarterfinals, Rosemead defeated Franklin (Los Angeles) by a score of 32-30. Tran had high-scoring honors with 10 points, Gauthier had seven points, and freshman guard Sidney Hua added six points.
