LATINO BASEBALL PHOTOS NEEDED!
Bring your family’s photos of Latino baseball players, including grade school pictures, to the Alhambra Historical Society meeting on Wednesday, September 28 at 7 p.m. in the Masonic Center, 9 West Woodward, corner of First Street, in Alhambra.
Professor Richard A. Santillian is Professor Emeritus from Cal Poly Pomona, author of several books, and an Alhambra resident for 43 years, will talk about the Smithsonian Institute’s Latino Baseball History Exhibit in Washington, D. C. in 2018.
The exhibit will travel throughout the United States. The Smithsonian has been collecting Latino baseball and softball memorabilia for this exhibit through the Latino Baseball History Project which is based at California State University San Bernardino and is currently seeking all types of baseball and softball images, especially photographs from the 1940s to the 1960s.All photos will be scanned and returned.
Even if you don’t have pictures, come on Wednesday, September 28 and learn more about this unique and historical project. “Meet and Greet” opens at 7 p.m. with refreshments and viewing of the Museum’s historical items on display. The meeting and program will begin at 7:30. Admission is free.
