Tea Time With Terrific Teachers

Alhambra Mayor Barbara Messina welcomed Assemblymember Ed Chau, teachers, school board members, family and friends to Tea Time with Terrific Teachers of the 49th Assembly District to the Alhambra Library on April 29th.

Mayor Messina led the Flag Salute and introduced Assemblymember Ed Chau to the audience. She is honored to be here today. She has teachers in her family. Alhambra encourages teachers and education.

Assemblymember Chau serves as Chair of the Assembly Committee on Privacy and Consumer Protection and is a member of the Assembly Committees on Banking and Finance; Housing and Community Development; Judiciary; and Jobs, Economic Development and the Economy. He also served on the Montebello School Board.

He has really shown that he has served all of your needs. He supports our teachers.

Assemblymember Ed Chau presented nine outstanding teachers with the 2016 Teacher Appreciation Award during a ceremony in the City of Alhambra. The awards presented were in recognition of distinguished excellence in the profession of teaching and a commitment to the education of students in the 49th Assembly District.

“I am proud to recognize and honor these incredible teachers for their dedication as mentors to our youth and exemplary work to raise the profile of their profession,” said Assemblymember Ed Chau. “All of the individuals honored today are examples of what our schools have to offer and why California must continue to support a strong public education system.”

He introduced Kathy Perini from the Temple City School District, Dr. Jeff Wilson from the Arcadia School District, Susanna Contreras Smith from the Montebello School District, Dr. Amy Enomoto-Perez from the Rosemead School District, Henry Lo from the Garvey School District, Dr. Laura Tellez-Gagliano and Adela Andrade Stadler from the Alhambra School District to the audience.

He thanked everyone for their attendance and support of the teachers. Teachers Appreciation Week is May 2nd to May 6th. Teaching is a full time commitment and has lots of sacrifices.

Assemblymember Chau remembered his former teachers who were important in his life. He thanked them. It takes a village to educate the children. They are our future.

The teachers work with the children and their families. He called them role models. He thanked them for their efforts.

Assemblymember Ed Chau thanked all of the teachers. They play a role in everyones lives. Teaching is not a lucrative profession. We have a teaching shortage and the government is trying to help the teachers. They are looking for innovating means to provide affordable housing and other means to help support teachers. Our financing has been better in the last three years. Our funding has a surplus now. California is looking up in education.

He thanked everyone for being here today.
