THE AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY
THE AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY
Department of California
District 18
American Legion Auxiliary District 18 is looking forward to the 3rd annual USO- Show to be held January 30th, 2010, at East Pasadena American Legion Post 280, 179 N Vinedo, Pasadena. Under the direction of Norma DuVall of Monrovia, plans include outstanding entries in the show, raffle of gift baskets and much more! The cost is $5.00, with food provided for an additional $5.00 for those that wish to eat (Carolina Pulled-Pork Sandwich & Salad). The entire proceeds from the event go to benefit the USO facility at Ontario Airport.
The USO facility features a lounge, “quite room” for veterans who just want to relax, computer room where service personnel can “call home”, a children’s room and more! Those that have not had an opportunity to check out the facility, would be pleased to see what is being done for our “heroes” that come in and out of Ontario. Monetary donations can be made to USO@Ontario, P O Box 4256, Ontario 91761. Although homemade foods cannot be accepted, gift cards to Sam’s Club and Stater Bros. are appreciated, as well as coffee, tea, hot chocolate, cookies, etc., as long as they are individually wrapped. There are always rules!
The show starts at 5:00 p.m., and everyone is welcome to come out and enjoy a really entertaining evening with your local American Legion Legionnaires and members of the Auxiliary. Both the Legion and the Auxiliary are dedicated to serve God and Country. Veterans having served during war time, including those presently serving, are eligible to join the largest war-time veterans organization, and wives, mothers, daughters, granddaughters and great granddaughters are all eligible to join the Auxiliary, as well as women veterans in their own right. Those interested and eligible are urged to contact a local Post or Unit in their area, which are in located in almost every community in the San Gabriel Valley.
