MONTEREY PARK GOVERNMENT ACCESS TV MOVING TO CHARTER CABLE CHANNEL 3. Channel renamed MPK-TV.

Monterey Park, CA – December 8, 2009 – The City of Monterey Park’s government access television station is scheduled to be relocated to channel 3 on Charter Communications’ cable television system on January 12, 2010. Effective immediately, the station is renamed MPK-TV (Monterey Park Television).

Previously known as Ch. 55, MPK-TV is available on two TV systems in Monterey Park: Charter Communications and AT&T U-verse. Charter cable TV subscribers who wish to continue watching city council meetings and other city programming will need to tune to Ch. 3 after the change. AT&T U-verse customers will not experience any changes and will view MPK-TV as usual on Ch. 99.

The adjustment is prompted by Charter’s plan to reorganize their Southern California regional channel lineup on Jan, 12, 2010. MPK-TV will continue to be available on Charter’s basic-level tier when the move is made to Ch. 3.

The switch to Ch, 3 only affects the numerical channel location on Charter cable and not MPK-TV programming, facilities or personnel.

Starting in mid Dec. 2009, MPK-TV will begin a public information campaign to inform viewers of the change to Ch. 3. MPK-TV’S other communication portals such as You Tube and Twitter will also be updated to reflect the name change and will be announced in their respective media.

MPK-TV is the City of Monterey Park’s government access television station and has produced live council meetings, special events and news programming from city hall facilities since 1986.
