VIRGINIA CLASSICK, CO-CHAIR OF THE SAN FERNANDO VALLEY CHAPTER OF THE BRADY CAMPAIGN TO PREVENT GUN VIOLENCE, TO SPEAK AT EAST LOS ANGELES-MONTEBELLO BUSINESS AND PROFESSIONAL WOMEN FEBRUARY 24TH MEETING
At the Wednesday, February 24th East Los Angeles-Montebello Business and Professional Women (BPW) dinner meeting, Virginia Classick, Co-chair of the Gun Violence Prevention Task Force of the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles and Co-chair of the San Fernando Valley Chapter of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, will talk about “Gun Violence: A Woman’s Issue.” The dinner meeting will be at Polly Pie’s Restaurant, 1322 Beverly Blvd., Montebello. Classick is a retired Licensed Social Worker, who worked for nearly forty years in the fields of mental health and domestic violence. She received her B.A. in theology from Valparaiso University and her Masters in Social Work degree from Washington University, St. Louis. She is on the boards of the National Religious Campaign Against Torture (she has served as Vice-President), Progressive Christians Uniting (she has served three terms) and Peace Action West. At All Saints Episcopal Church (Pasadena), she has helped coordinate the Action Table, a place where members or visitors can personally support movements ranging from support of health care to immigration reform, to local initiatives supporting education.
Classick said, “Nearly eight children and teens are shot and killed every day in America. It is time our voices are heard.” She will explain what can be done to combat gun violence which is a woman’s issue.
