Monterey Park Seeks Volunteers for City’s 100th Birthday Events
Help celebrate the city’s centennial by volunteering at fun and festive events planned for 2016 and beyond
Monterey Park, Calif. December 10, 2015 – The City of Monterey Park is seeking community volunteers to help staff and organize some of the many special events planned in 2016 that will celebrate the city’s 100th birthday. Some of the events that are in the works to celebrate this historic milestone are:
• The Lunar New Year Celebration
• Cherry Blossom Festival
• Earth Day Bike Ride
• Cinco de Mayo
• Centennial monument and time capsule
• Library Foundation Gala
• Lions Club Coming Home Breakfast
• Summer concerts
• Fourth of July
• Geranium Festival
• A celebration dinner
• 5K run/walk
• Veterans Day
• Holiday Snow Village
• Rose Parade Float
In preparation for this 100th anniversary, the city has organized a Centennial Committee to organize, plan and fund events. The city is seeking individuals who may be capable of undertaking such tasks and staffing events.

Monthly committee meetings are held on the second Wednesday of the month at 6 p.m. at Garvey Ranch Park in the activity room near the observatory. Garvey Ranch Park is located 781 S.
