San Gabriel Police Empowers the Community by Introducing CrlmeMapping.com

The San Gabriel Police Department understands the value of a well informed public and recently became one of the many law enforcement agencies in Southern California to go live with CrimeMapping.com.

The interactive website enables citizens to map out and view reports on crime activity by neighborhood or near an address. CrimeMapping.com also includes a Crime Alerts service that allows users to subscribe via e-mail and receive reports regarding incidents of crime near their home or business.

The San Gabriel Police Department can now provide a new level of transparency for the 41,000 plus residents it serves. People can view exactly what types of crime are occurring, as well as where and when they are being committed. ”CrimeMapping.com will prove to be effective in reducing crime by increasing the number of eyes and ears out there aware of local activity. This tool represents the core of what community oriented policing is all about,” states San Gabriel Police Chief David A. Layton.

The San Gabriel Police Department will utilize its present CrimeView statistical software and Google Map technology in providing this beneficial service. Residents of San Gabriel will now be able to access accurate and timely information about crime in their area.

”CrimeMapping.com will prove to be a valuable tool for our Neighborhood Watch program by providing detailed, timely crime data information to all of our members. Our efforts are now focused and far more effective than they would have been without a valuable program like CrimeMapping.com,” states San Gabriel Crime Prevention Officer Alex Acosta.
