ALHAMBRA PARKS HISTORY

Learn about the past events and current status of Alhambra’s Community Services Department which manages the city’s recreation and parks programs. Find out what is predicted for the future from a supervisor in the department.

The Alhambra Historical Society invites everyone to the evening meeting on Wednesday, September 23 at the Masonic Center, 9 West Woodward, corner of First Street, in Alhambra.

“Meet and Greet” begins at 7 p.m. for refreshments and viewing of the Museum’s historical items on display. Many are about the athletic events at Story Park, with some of the items donated by Alhambra residents.

The program will begin at 7:30. The featured speaker of the evening is Mike Macias, a Supervisor for the Alhambra Community Services Department. He will be introduced by William R. Kinman, former Director of the department from the previous millennium.

Mr. Macias will talk about what the department did eighty years ago, comparing it with the present. Future activities will change because of the drought and he will discuss this impact and the prospective results. A question and answer period will follow.

Mark your calendar for the next meeting on November 18. Enjoy free popcorn and candy at the Silent Movie Night.
