Assemblymember Ed Chau (D-Monterey Park) issued the following statement on June 15 after the Legislature finalized the State Budget:

“Today’s budget once again balances our priorities and values, which are to pay down debt and build reserves, while investing in Californians.  Some of the biggest investments are focused on helping California families’ access higher education, which saw increases in funding above $150 million, and expanding early care and education options for working families through investments above $400 million.

“The budget also renders assistance to hard-working Californians living in poverty through a state Earned Income Tax Credit that will benefit over two million people, and improves healthcare by restoring previous Medi-Cal cuts and benefits.”

Assemblymember Chau represents the communities of Alhambra, Arcadia, El Monte, Monterey Park, Rosemead, San Gabriel, San Marino, Temple City and portions of Montebello and South El Monte.
