Rosemead’s Melody Gauthier Signs with Hope International
Melody Gauthier, Rosemead High School’s all-time leading scorer in girls basketball with 1,528 points, signed on May 13, to finish her college career at Hope International University in Fullerton, California.
Gauthier played her first two years in college at Los Angeles Valley College and helped the team reach the state quarterfinals as a freshman.
Gauthier played four years on Rosemead High School varsity for her father Jay Gauthier Sr., Rosemead’s all-time winning girls coach with 10 Mission Valley League titles in 12 years. Melody was named Mission Valley League Most Valuable Player three times, lead the league in scoring her last three years, twice topped the league in assists, and scored a Rosemead girls single game record of 39 points in a win against Gabrielino. Gauthier and her Rosemead teammate Sydney Hua, a sophomore guard next season at LA Valley College, both were on Rosemead teams that won every league game all four years they attended Rosemead and graduated in 2013 with Rosemead on a 56-game league-winning streak.
