NANCY ARCURI TO BE INSTALLED AS PRESIDENT OF EAST LOS ANGELES-MONTEBELLO BUSINESS AND PROFESSIONAL WOMEN, WEDNESDAY, MAY 27TH

Nancy Arcuri, publisher and editor of THE CITIZEN’S VOICE, will be installed as President of the East Los Angeles-Montebello Business and Professional Women (BPW) on Wednesday, May 27th dinner meeting at the DoubleTree Hotel Restaurant, 888 Montebello Blvd., Rosemead (Networking starts at 4:30 P.M. with dinner to be selected from the menu to start before 5:00 P.M. Price depends on what the person orders from the menu). The program and dinner is open to all interested people. Call or E-mail Linda Wilson (626) 307-5650 or lindalwilson@juno.com to make a reservation or for questions.

In September 1971 Nancy and her husband Frank Arcuri moved to Monterey Park. In

1986 Frank founded the newspaper THE MONTEREY PARK VOICE, which became THE CITIZEN’S VOICE. After her husband passed away in July 1996 Nancy Arcuri inherited the newspaper and continued to edit and publish the paper while working full-time. Because of the expense of publishing a monthly print newspaper, she converted to an online newspaper in January 2009. Since taking over the newspaper, Arcuri has attended most of the semi-monthly meetings of the Monterey Park City Council. She also frequently testifies during the “Public Opportunity to Address the Council.” In addition, she attends, covers and photographs many of the evening and weekend meetings and events in Monterey Park and the surrounding area. Arcuri is a longtime member of the Monterey Park Historical Society and a member of The Concerned Citizens. May 17, 2008 Arcuri was the Honorary Grand Marshall of the Monterey Park Play Days Parade in recognition of her community involvement. In 2009 the United Democratic Club of Monterey Park awarded her the non-partisan “People Who Make a Difference Award” for all her contributions to the community.
Marjory Hopper, Vice President of the California Federation of Business and Professional Women, will be the installing officer. In addition to Arcuri being installed as President, Marta Escañuelas, Executive Director of MERCI, will be installed as Vice President; Karen Roberson, Chair of the Board of Family Promise of San Gabriel Valley, will be installed as Secretary; Bea Palas, retired Stock Broker, will be installed as Treasurer.

East Los Angeles-Montebello BPW is a member of the California Federation and also a member of EPW-USA and BPW International. BPW is the oldest organization of its kind in the world; devoted entirely and actively to the interests and needs of all women irrespective of their occupations and of their status. Our mission is to achieve equity for all women in the workplace through advocacy, education and information.
